The MVA has 5 standing committees and Ad Hoc committees as needed. The committees are always looking for volunteers. If you are interested in serving on any of the committees, contact any of the MVA officers or the chairman of the committee you are interested in.
The Bylaws committee is chaired by the Executive Vice President and must have at least two other members. It reviews the Bylaws and List of Policy Decisions immediately following each biennial election of officers, and at other times when requested by the President, the Membership, or by a member through the President.
The Audit committee has three members from the MVA membership. It conducts a financial audit with accepted business practices in the first quarter of each odd numbered year. The committee also audits any physical assets the MVA may own.
The Publicity and Public Relations committee is chaired by the Vice President for Publicity and Public Relations and must have at least one other member. This committee produces publicity brochures and information packages, and develops programs such as a list of speakers who will go to meetings of other organizations to explain volkssports. The committee chair or designated representative will attend and/or conduct workshops for member clubs.
The Future of the Sport committee works closely with the Publicity and Public Relations committee. A primary purpose of this committee is to assist in new club development. The committee also develops statistics on volkssporting in the MVA's area, and use these statistics to make determinations about growth or lack thereof.
The chair and members of this committee are volunteers of experienced trailmasters. The purpose of the committee is to contribute specialized knowledge to further the health of the sport, and to provide advice and assistance on request on all of the functions of a trailmaster. The committee is also available to provide critiques to clubs after events.
The Executive Vice President is the chair of the Event committee, which is responsible for all aspects of any MVA sponsored volksevent. Members of the committee include representatives from the area where the event is conducted, with the idea of generating interest in forming a new club.
The Nominating committee, consisting of at least three MVA members, is appointed at least 90 days prior to the biennial election of MVA officers in November or December of each even-numbered year. The purpose of the Nominating committee is to provide a slate of nominees for MVA officers at least 30 days prior to the election to the Executive Committee so the Secretary can publish the list.
