Minutes of Meeting

Officers Present: President, Dennis Lynch; and Treasurer, Ken Wilson.
CLUB DELEGATES: Bob Schmick (Annapolis),
Sue Kenyon (Baltimore), Bill Guion (CBCW), Rich Long (Columbia), Diane Evans (D.C.),
Skip Coburn (Potomac River Volksmarch Club), Bing Innocencio (Seneca Valley),
and Sandy Lynch (Worldwide Volkssport Tours).
COMMITTEE CHAIRS: Jim Fons, Sanctions; Bill Guion, By-laws and Web Meister; Rich Long, Audit.
GUESTS: Joan Lampart, AVA Vice-president; Nancy Stinger, Atlantic Region Director, Lynn Towle.
- The meeting was called to order at 12:15 PM by President Dennis Lynch. The president noted this was
the first meeting since April and thanked Skip Coburn for hosting the meeting.
- A motion to approve the minutes of the last meeting as submitted by e-mail
was made by R. Schmick, seconded by S. Kenyon and approved.
REPORTS

- The esteemed Treasurer, Mr. Kenneth R. Wilson submitted written reports for the months of April, May,
June, July, and August and a revised 2005 budget. It was moved by Bill Guion and seconded by Bing Innocencio
that they be accepted and they were unanimously. The Treasurer noted that the Diamond State Trekkers of
Delaware had resigned from the MVA.
COMMITTEES
- Sanctions Report by J. Fons:
- YRE Sanctioning went relatively smoothly. Minor changes to existing walks were easily made. Still
some confusion relative to directions when submitting new YRE's.
- 2006 - 60 walks and 7 bikes (Baltimore - 16 walks and 3 bikes; Annapolis - 4 walks and 2 bikes;
Seneca - 3 walks; CBCW - 4 walks and 2 bikes; DC - 0; MVA - 8 walks; Freestate - 10 walks;
Greenbelt - 2 walks, 1 bike; Columbia 6 walks, 1 bike; Piedmont - 3 walks; Worldwide - 1 walk).
- compared to 2005 - 60 walks and 7 bikes (Baltimore - 15 walks and 1 bike; Annapolis - 5 walks and 2 bikes;
Seneca - 7 walks; CBCW - 4 walks and 2 bikes; DC - 1 walk; MVA - 8 walks; Freestate -10 walks;
Greenbelt - 2 walks and 1 bike; Columbia - 6 walks and 1 bike; Piedmont - 4 walks; Worldwide - 1 walk).
- Regular events in 2005 - 32 walks and 3 bikes - Freestate - 9 walks; CBCW 2 walks; Piedmont - 2 walks;
Columbia - 6 walks, 1 bike; Baltimore - 6 walks; Annapolis - 5 walks and 1 bike, Seneca 1 walk; Greenbelt 1 walk.
- 2006 to date there are 7 walks sanctioned. (CBCW - 1; Freestate - 2; Baltimore - 1; Piedmont - 1;
Columbia - 2).
- Report of Rediscover Maryland Program by J. Fons - 245 participants have registered in the program. Year
2005 Achievement Certificates will be presented at the Freestate Walk in Columbia on 31 December 2005. MVA
member clubs are encouraged to include the county on the AVA website, brochures and flyers.
- Bill Guion reported for the Computerization Committee that the website has been updated so information
is immediately available and consistent. He had no input on revising the by-laws.
- Audit Committee - no audit therefore no report.
- No report from the Health of the Sport committee.
NEW BUSINESS
- The new Regional Director, Nancy Stenger was introduced. She presented Certificates of Appreciation from
the Convention Committee to Bob Schmick, Skip Coburn and Ric Nauen. She mentioned volunteers (new faces if
possible) were needed for the national AVA Marketing and Publicity Committee. A new cooperator "America in
Motion" has joined the AVA family. One agenda item on reorganization of AVA regions has been presented for
the next Executive Committee meeting.
- Joan Lampert, AVA Vice President was present and had no formal requests.
- One letter was received from AVA thanking MVA for the donation to develop and enhance the computer system.
- Diane Evans Chairman of the 2006 Regional Meeting committee announced the formation of the committee and
tentative dates of March 24, 25 and 26. Workshops and the ordinary convention type events would be planned.
About 150 people attended the last meeting.
- Sandy Lynch moved that: $500.00 be donated to the Southeast Region to be administered by the SE RD and
distributed to Hurricane Katrina affected clubs to replace volkssport, especially YRE, materials and equipment
damaged by the hurricane. Seconded by Bill Guion and passed unanimously.
COMMENTS
- All clubs present reported on their events planned for the near future.
